Misocyclone
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007320
A small-scale vortex, rotating cyclonically, with a diameter ranging from about 40 meters to 4 kilometers. These vortices are smaller than mesocyclones and form in the boundary layer, sometimes associated with the gust front of a thunderstorm or along shear lines. A misocyclone that is in contact with both the ground and a cloud base is classified as a tornado.
