Moving fetch
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007434
The distance over which wind blows unimpeded across a body of water, where the wind field itself is also moving. This concept is relevant for calculating wave generation and growth, as the effective fetch can be extended or reduced depending on the relative speeds and directions of the wind and the wave field. It is a factor in ocean wave modeling.
