Myers rating

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007467

A numerical scale from 1 to 5 that categorizes the potential for wildfire spread, based on the moisture content of fine dead fuels. Developed by the U.S. Forest Service, the rating is calculated from the one-hour timelag fuel moisture, which represents the moisture in fuels less than one-quarter inch in diameter. A Myers rating of 1 indicates very low fire danger with moist fuels, while a rating of 5 signifies extreme danger with very dry, receptive fuels.
