Silt-discharge rating

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010756

A relationship that describes the concentration or load of suspended silt in a river or stream as a function of its water discharge rate. This empirical curve is developed by taking simultaneous measurements of water flow and suspended sediment concentration over a range of conditions. It is used in hydrology to estimate sediment transport and assess erosion or deposition processes.
