Natural synoptic region

An extensive geographical area within which atmospheric processes exhibit a high degree of coherence and interdependence. Weather systems and their evolution tend to be similar across such a region due to shared large-scale atmospheric forcing. These regions are often delineated by major topographic features or persistent climatological boundaries.
