Nonwetting liquid

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007588

A liquid that does not spread across or adhere to a solid surface, instead forming distinct droplets with a contact angle greater than 90 degrees. This behavior occurs when the cohesive forces within the liquid are stronger than the adhesive forces between the liquid and the solid. In atmospheric science, this property is relevant to the interaction of water droplets with certain aerosol particles or surfaces, influencing cloud microphysics and precipitation processes.
