Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007623

The ancient Greek mythological personification of the south wind, a name also applied to the wind itself. This wind originates from the south, bringing warm and moist air into the Mediterranean region, which can lead to cloudy, damp, and sometimes stormy conditions, particularly during the late summer and autumn. In classical mythology, Notos was one of the four Anemoi, or wind gods, and was considered the bringer of the storms of late summer.
