Objective analysis

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007642

A mathematical procedure that combines meteorological observations with a prior estimate of the atmospheric state to produce a spatially continuous and consistent representation of atmospheric variables. This process minimizes the influence of random observational errors and fills data gaps. It forms the initial conditions for numerical weather prediction models.
