Ocean station vessel

A ship specifically equipped and deployed to occupy a designated ocean station for extended periods, collecting continuous meteorological and oceanographic data. These vessels served as vital platforms for upper-air soundings, surface observations, and search and rescue operations in remote ocean areas. Their role has largely been superseded by satellite and buoy networks.
