Outer atmosphere

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007754

The uppermost layers of Earth's atmosphere, primarily comprising the exosphere and parts of the thermosphere. This region is characterized by extremely low density, where atmospheric gases gradually merge with the vacuum of space. Temperatures in the outer atmosphere can reach thousands of degrees Celsius due to solar radiation, though the sparse particles mean little heat transfer.
