Upper atmosphere

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010827

The region of Earth's atmosphere above the troposphere, encompassing the stratosphere, mesosphere, thermosphere, and exosphere. This area is characterized by decreasing pressure and density with altitude, and it contains layers like the ozone layer, which absorbs ultraviolet radiation. Temperatures in the upper atmosphere vary significantly, with the thermosphere experiencing extreme heating from solar radiation.
