Chemosphere

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004270

A region of the Earth's atmosphere, primarily within the mesosphere and lower thermosphere, where photochemical reactions are prevalent and influence atmospheric composition. This layer is characterized by the dissociation of molecules by solar radiation and subsequent recombination, leading to the formation of excited species and ions. The chemosphere extends roughly from 50 to 100 kilometers above the Earth's surface.
