Limit of the atmosphere

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006965

The ill-defined upper boundary where the Earth's atmosphere gradually thins into outer space. While there is no sharp demarcation, the Kármán line, at an altitude of 100 kilometers (62 miles), is conventionally used to define the boundary between the atmosphere and space. Atmospheric effects, such as aurorae, can extend much higher.
