Potential transpiration
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008087
The maximum rate of water vapor loss from a vegetated surface to the atmosphere, assuming an unlimited supply of soil moisture and optimal plant health. This concept is used in hydrology and climatology to estimate the atmospheric demand for water from plants. It is often calculated using meteorological variables such as temperature, humidity, and wind speed.
