Prandtl number
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008100
A dimensionless number that relates the momentum diffusivity to the thermal diffusivity within a fluid. In atmospheric science, it is used in studies of heat and momentum transfer in the atmospheric boundary layer. For air, the Prandtl number is approximately 0.7, indicating that momentum diffuses slightly faster than heat.
