Precipitable water
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-002096
The total amount of water vapor contained in a vertical column of the atmosphere, extending from the Earth's surface to the top of the atmosphere. This value represents the depth of liquid water that would result if all the water vapor in that column were condensed and precipitated onto the surface. It is typically expressed in millimeters or inches and provides an indication of the atmospheric moisture content available for precipitation.
Measure of the depth of liquid water at the surface that would result after precipitating all of the water vapor in a vertical column over a given location, usually extending from the surface to 300 mb.
