Psychrometric formula

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008200

An empirical or theoretical equation that relates the dry-bulb temperature, wet-bulb temperature, and atmospheric pressure to other humidity variables such as relative humidity, dew point, or vapor pressure. These formulas are derived from the principles of thermodynamics and heat transfer, accounting for the cooling effect of evaporation from the wet-bulb thermometer. The most widely known is the August-Sprung formula, which is used to calculate vapor pressure from psychrometer readings.
