Pyrocumulonimbus
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008225
A cumulonimbus cloud that forms above a large heat source, such as a wildfire or volcanic eruption, and is characterized by its ability to produce lightning and sometimes precipitation. These clouds are driven by intense convection from the heat and moisture released by the fire. They can inject smoke and aerosols high into the stratosphere.
