Radar weather observation

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008280

The process of using radar to detect and analyze atmospheric phenomena, primarily precipitation, within a specific range. This observation provides information on the location, intensity, movement, and type of precipitation, as well as the presence of severe weather features like thunderstorms and tornadoes. Weather radar systems operate by emitting microwave pulses and detecting the reflected energy from hydrometeors.
