Microwave radar

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007287

A type of radar system that operates using microwave frequencies to detect and measure precipitation, clouds, and other atmospheric targets. These radars emit microwave pulses and analyze the reflected signals to determine the location, intensity, and movement of hydrometeors. Weather surveillance radars (WSR-88D) are a prominent example, operating in S-band or C-band frequencies.
