Microwave probing
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007286
A remote sensing technique that uses microwave radiation to measure atmospheric properties, such as temperature, humidity, and the presence of precipitation. This method relies on the absorption and emission characteristics of atmospheric gases and hydrometeors at specific microwave frequencies. Satellite-borne microwave sounders are a common application, providing vertical profiles of atmospheric conditions.
