Acoustic transducer
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003259
A device that converts electrical energy into sound waves or vice versa. In atmospheric science, transducers are fundamental components of acoustic remote sensing instruments like acoustic sounders (SODARs), where they emit powerful sound pulses and detect the faint echoes. These devices are designed to operate efficiently at specific frequencies relevant to atmospheric probing.
