Acoustic intensity

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003242

The average rate of sound energy flow per unit area perpendicular to the direction of wave propagation. It is a measure of the power carried by a sound wave and is typically expressed in watts per square meter (W/m²). In atmospheric studies, acoustic intensity is used to quantify the strength of sound sources and the energy of propagating sound waves.
