Acoustic signature

The characteristic pattern of sound waves emitted or reflected by a specific atmospheric phenomenon or object. This unique acoustic fingerprint can be used to identify and analyze the source. For example, the acoustic signature of lightning or thunder provides information about the electrical discharge and its propagation through the atmosphere.
