Radar frequency band
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008266
A specific range of electromagnetic frequencies allocated for radar operations, each band having distinct characteristics that influence its application in meteorology. Common meteorological radar bands include S-band, C-band, and X-band, which differ in wavelength and susceptibility to attenuation. S-band radars, for instance, are less attenuated by heavy rain and are often used for long-range weather surveillance.
