Weather radar
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010179
A type of radar system specifically designed to detect precipitation, calculate its movement, and estimate its intensity and type. It emits microwave pulses that reflect off hydrometeors like rain, snow, and hail, providing data on their location and velocity. Doppler weather radar can also measure the speed and direction of precipitation particles, aiding in severe weather forecasting.
