Sidelooking radar
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008861
A type of radar system that emits microwave pulses perpendicular to the direction of motion of the platform carrying it. It creates images of the ground or ocean surface by measuring the intensity and travel time of the reflected signals. Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) is a common form of sidelooking radar used for high-resolution imaging.
