Cloud radar
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004440
A specialized radar system designed to detect and characterize non-precipitating clouds and light precipitation by emitting microwave radiation and measuring the backscattered signal. These radars operate at higher frequencies than conventional weather radars, allowing them to detect smaller cloud particles. They provide detailed information on cloud structure, vertical extent, and particle motion.
