Q band
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010698
A specific range of microwave frequencies, typically spanning from 33 to 50 gigahertz, used in radar and telecommunications. In meteorology, Q-band radars are employed for specialized atmospheric observations, such as detecting small cloud particles or studying boundary layer processes. The shorter wavelength of Q-band radiation provides higher spatial resolution but experiences greater attenuation by atmospheric gases and precipitation.
