Range aliasing
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008398
An ambiguity in radar measurements where echoes from distant targets are incorrectly interpreted as originating from closer ranges. This occurs when the time taken for a radar pulse to travel to a target and return exceeds the pulse repetition interval. It results in false targets appearing within the displayed range, complicating the interpretation of radar imagery.
