Multiple-trip echo
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007459
A radar echo that results from a transmitted pulse reflecting off a target, then reflecting off another object or the ground, and finally returning to the radar after traveling a path longer than the direct return. This causes the echo to appear at an incorrect, farther range on the radar display. These spurious echoes can be mistaken for actual weather phenomena and complicate radar data interpretation.
