Ghost
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010522
A spurious indication on a radar display that does not correspond to a real target at the position shown. Typical causes are side-lobe returns, multiple reflections along the signal path and second-trip echoes. A second-trip echo comes from a target beyond the maximum unambiguous range and is drawn at a false, closer range equal to its true range minus that maximum.
