Real-time transmission

The process of sending meteorological data from a sensor or observation platform to a processing center with a delay of only a few seconds or minutes. This immediate availability of information supports nowcasting, severe weather warnings, and aviation forecasting. Data formats like BUFR (Binary Universal Form for the Representation of meteorological data) and GRIB (GRIdded Binary) are standard for transmitting weather information.
