Recession curve

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008441

A graphical representation showing the decrease in streamflow over time after a precipitation event has ended and direct runoff has ceased. This curve reflects the drainage of groundwater from the surrounding aquifer into the stream channel. Analyzing its shape provides insights into the hydrogeological characteristics of the watershed, such as aquifer storage capacity and hydraulic conductivity.
