Elevation capacity curve
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005345
A graphical representation showing the relationship between the water surface elevation in a reservoir and the volume of water it can store at that level. Hydrologists and water managers use these curves to forecast storage changes resulting from precipitation, inflow, and evaporation, and to plan for water supply and flood control operations. The curve is also called a stage-storage curve and is unique to the specific topography of each reservoir basin.
