Intensity-duration-frequency curve

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010557

A graphical representation showing the relationship between rainfall intensity, duration, and return period for a specific geographical location. These curves are derived from historical rainfall data and are used to estimate the probability of extreme rainfall events. They are widely applied in hydrological engineering for designing storm drainage systems and flood control structures.
