Intensity modulation
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006579
A technique where the amplitude or brightness of a signal is varied in proportion to the information being conveyed, often used in display systems for meteorological data. This allows for visual representation of varying data values, such as radar reflectivity or satellite imagery. It differs from frequency modulation, where the frequency of the carrier wave is altered.
