Sideband
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008860
A band of frequencies higher or lower than the carrier frequency in a modulated signal, containing the information being transmitted. In atmospheric remote sensing, sidebands are relevant in radar and radiometry, where they can carry information about atmospheric constituents or target characteristics. The width of the sideband is determined by the modulation scheme.
