Carrier frequency

The specific frequency of an electromagnetic wave that is modulated to transmit information. In remote sensing, this frequency is used to carry the signal from a radar or lidar system to the target and back. Weather radar systems, for example, operate at specific carrier frequencies in the microwave range.
