Modulator
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007363
A device that imposes a signal onto a carrier wave by varying one or more of its properties, such as amplitude, frequency, or phase. In remote sensing systems like weather radar, a modulator controls the timing and characteristics of the transmitted microwave pulses. The modulator's function is to switch the high-power amplifier that generates the radar pulse on and off with precise timing, shaping the outgoing signal.
