Modulator
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013298
A device in two-dimensional chromatography that collects, concentrates, and periodically injects fractions of the effluent from the first column into the second column. The modulator's function is to transfer analytes between the two separation dimensions, which operate on different timescales. Common types include thermal modulators used in gas chromatography and valve-based modulators used in liquid chromatography.
