Carrier wave
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004182
An electromagnetic wave that is modulated to convey information, such as data or signals. In atmospheric remote sensing, a carrier wave is emitted by instruments like radar or lidar, and its properties are altered by interactions with atmospheric constituents. The changes in the carrier wave are then analyzed to infer atmospheric conditions.
