Depth-area curve
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010468
A graphical representation showing the relationship between the average depth of precipitation and the area over which it falls for a given storm event. This curve illustrates that as the area considered increases, the average depth of precipitation generally decreases. It is used in hydrological engineering to estimate the total volume of rainfall over a basin.
