Relative humidity with respect to ice

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008505

The ratio of the actual water vapor pressure in the air to the saturation vapor pressure over a flat ice surface at the same temperature and pressure, expressed as a percentage. This measure is particularly relevant in cold atmospheric conditions where ice crystals are present or forming. It is often higher than relative humidity with respect to liquid water at temperatures below freezing.
