Ridge line

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008573

The axis of maximum atmospheric pressure within an elongated high-pressure area or ridge. On a weather map, this line connects the points of highest pressure along the ridge, where the pressure gradient is zero. Airflow along a ridge line is typically divergent, contributing to sinking motion and clear skies.
