Seeder-feeder
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010747
A mechanism of precipitation enhancement in which particles falling from a higher seeder cloud pass through a lower feeder cloud and grow by collecting its cloud droplets. The falling particles may be raindrops or snow, so the feeder cloud need not be supercooled. In orographic cases the feeder cloud forms from moist air lifted over terrain, and the enhancement is largest on windward slopes.
