Orographic fog

Fog that forms when moist air is forced to ascend a topographic barrier, leading to adiabatic cooling and condensation near the ground. This type of fog is common on the windward slopes of hills and mountains. It can significantly reduce visibility in mountainous regions, posing hazards to transportation.
