Orographic wind flow

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007743

The modification of wind patterns by mountainous terrain, leading to phenomena such as channeling, acceleration, and deceleration of airflow. As air encounters a mountain barrier, it can be forced to flow around or over it, creating complex wind fields. This includes mountain waves, foehn winds, and valley breezes, which significantly impact local weather.
