Sensible heat
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008795
Thermal energy that can be felt and measured by a thermometer, causing a change in the temperature of a substance without a change in its phase. In the atmosphere, sensible heat is transferred between the Earth's surface and the air through conduction and convection. It is a major component of the Earth's energy budget, alongside latent heat.
