Sensible heat flow
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008796
The transfer of thermal energy between the Earth's surface and the atmosphere through conduction and convection, resulting in a change in temperature of the air or surface. This process directly warms or cools the air without a phase change of water. It is a major component of the Earth's energy budget, often measured in watts per square meter.
